Saint Rose Athletics Hall of Fame
Among the most potent offensive threats in school annals and the only 2,000 point scorer (2,027) in Saint Rose history; Roger Powers was a two-time All-American and was twice tabbed as a National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) first-team All-New England selection. Eastern Basketball’s Player of the Year as a senior in 1997 and a member of its All-East team in each of his final three years, he was a Daktronics/CoSIDA first-team All-Region selection as a junior and was honored as both the ECAC and New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYCAC) Player of the Year as a senior. A three-time, first-team All-Conference selection, Powers was part of three NCAA Tournament teams, including the 1995-96 Elite Eight squad. He still stands as the school’s all-time leader in field goals made (747), 3-pointers made (305), and 3-point FG% (.437); and is 11th all-time in blocks (45). Furthermore, he owns three of the top-10, including the top-two, single-season scoring marks.
