Saint Rose Athletics Hall of Fame
A legend in area basketball circles who taught the game for more than 60 years at every conceivable level, Don Bassett was an assistant coach in name only as he selflessly mentored Golden Knights student-athletes throughout his tenure. In addition, he helped guide Saint Rose to more than 200 wins that encompassed seven NCAA Tournament appearances including three trips to the “Elite Eight” between 1996 and 1999. The Golden Knights also won four New York Collegiate Athletic Conference titles between 1995 and 2000 and advanced to the Northeast-10 Conference postseason tournament from 2001-03. He also coordinated the sponsorships of the basketball radio broadcasts and served as the Tournament Director for the renowned Capital Key Classic, which was considered one of the nation's most prestigious in-season Division II basketball tournaments throughout its eight-year run.
