GOLDEN KNIGHTS SHINE AT SARATOGA INVITATIONAL

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The College of Saint Rose men's and women's cross country teams brought home some impressive times on a challenging course as the two squads competed in the Saratoga Invitational this afternoon. The women placed third out of 12 competing teams while the men were seventh among 16 competing institutions.

For the women, who are ranked seventh in the latest USTFCCCA East Regional Rankings, five runners placed among the top 26 in a field that featured 172 competitors. Leading the charge for the Golden Knights was junior Jordan Westcott who came across the finish line with a 13th place time of 18:16.56 on the 3.04 mile course. Seniors Emma Cohen and Patty Massa were next in 17th and 20th places with clockings of 18:20.54 and 18:27.34 respectively. Fellow senior Dana Welch wound up 24th with her time of 18:39.99. Sophomore Bianca Jordan rounded out the scoring contingent for the Golden Knights, crossing the finish line in 26th with a time of 18:44.40.

Also placing in the top third of the pack for Saint Rose was freshman Amber Goodspeed who was 35th behind an 18:54.70 clocking.

The men came into the meet ranked 10th in the USTFCCCA East Regional Rankings and had several personal bests on the 8K course. Junior Eric Young was the highest finisher for Saint Rose. Young ran a PR for the third straight meet with a time of 26:06.84 to finish 13th among 192 entries. Senior Samson Dikeman ran a season-best 26:40.08 to place 35th. Sophomore Eamonn Coughlin continued his strong season with a personal best of 27:04.81 to wind up 46th while freshman Andrew Reifmann-Packett was 55th in a time of 27:20.00.

Additionally Golden Knights, alumnus Macky Lloyd won the men's race in a personal best time of 25:02.25.

Saint Rose has next weekend off as the Golden Knights prepare for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Saturday, October 20 in Syracuse. Le Moyne is hosting the event that gets underway at 10:00 am.
