JAMESVILLE, NY – The College of Saint Rose put up a solid showing today both as a team and individually at the
Northeast-10 Conference Championships, as the women's team raced to a fourth place finish while the men earned a seventh place mark. The meet was hosted by Le Moyne at the Jamesville Beach Country Park.
The women's team featured four student-athletes finished under 20 minutes on the 5k course. Two seniors led the way earning top 25 finishes. Senior
Emma Cohen clocked in a time of 19:34.7 to qualify for 21st place and be the first Golden Knight across the line and earning a third team All-Conference honor. Classmate
Patty Massa continued her strong season, coming 24th place behind a time of 19:37.5. Junior
Jordan Westcott also finished in the top-25 with a 25th place time of 19:38.4. Running a 19:58.3, sophomore
Bianca Jordan landed in 31st place. Seniors
Dana Welch and
Grace Giampaglia finished 35th and 37th respectively as Welch came in at 20:10.6 followed by a 20:18.3 time for Giampaglia. Sophomore
Kristen Harrington rounded out the top-50 finishers for Saint Rose, coming in at 20:35.3 for a 45th place.
Junior
Eric Young kept up his momentum this season, crossing the line for 29th place on the 8k course at 25:55.8 to be the first Golden Knight male finisher. Sophomore
Dominick Costanzo came in less than a minute later at 27:25.9, racing to 41st place. Not far behind in 42nd was classmate
Ed Brown, turning in a 27:26.3. Saint Rose made it three straight completions in order as senior
Samson Dikeman qualified in 43rd behind a 27:33.6 time.
Stonehill captured both the men's and women's titles for the second straight year. On the women's side, Adelphi and Southern Connecticut State finished ahead of Saint Rose for second and third place while American International capped the top-five teams. Finishing second through fifth for the men's group was American International, UMass Lowell, Bentley, and Adelphi.
Both Golden Knight squads take next weekend off from competition, preparing for the upcoming NCAA East Regional. The meet takes place in Nashua, NH, the same UMass Lowell hosted course that Saint Rose ran earlier this season. The event takes place on Sunday, November 4 at a scheduled start time of 1:30 pm.
