SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Colleen Quaglia, who graduated in May from The College of Saint Rose with a master's in accounting, was recently honored with the Grand Collegiate Award at the Capital District Sports Women of the Year Awards Gala at the GE Theatre at Proctors.
 
The event honored 13 female student-athletes, three collegiate and 10 high school, from the Capital Region who comprised the 2022 Class, which exemplifies excellence in academics, athletics, and community service.

Quaglia is the second Saint Rose student-athlete within the past three years to garner the Grand Collegiate Award. Former soccer standout Morgan Burchhardt was similarly honored in 2020.

Olympic Gold Medalist and six-time World Champion snowboard cross star Lindsey Jacobellis was the virtual speaker. Entertainment was provided by the Empire State Youth Orchestra.
 
Quaglia, a three-time All-American for the Golden Knights swimming and diving team, maintained a 4.00 GPA throughout her undergraduate and graduate student career. Earlier this summer, she was named to the Academic All-America® women's at-large team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for the third time in her career. It was the second consecutive time she was honored on the First Team Academic All-America® squad.
 
Quaglia was also a two-time College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) first-team Scholar All-American. She was named the Northeast-10 Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year after garnering the conference's Sports Excellence Award for women's swimming and diving this past spring. She twice earned the NE10 Elite 24 Award for having the highest GPA among all student-athletes at the conference championships and was named the 2022 Saint Rose Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
 
Quaglia, a member of the Delta Mu Delta business honor society, won the 500-yard freestyle, the 400 individual medley, and the 200 butterfly, while meeting NCAA provisional qualifying standards in each event, at the 2022 NE10 Championships.
 
She owns eight individual Saint Rose school records and is part of three record holding relay teams.
 
Her community service includes her efforts with Cleaning for a Cause and raising money and cleaning cancer patients' homes. She was a member of the Saint Rose Business Professionals & Sales Organization Pasta Drive, helping to acquire more than 5000 pounds of pasta for shelters in the area. With that organization, Colleen raised money for childhood cancer for the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Quaglia was a member of the Saint Rose Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and worked with the annual Reach Out Saint Rose initiative.
