DARLING GUTHEIL NOTCHES CAREER WIN 150 IN 5-0 ROUT OF SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE

Kailey Egbert
ALBANY – Sophomore forward Jazmine Farrell tallied twice within a two minute span midway through the first half to lead The College of Saint Rose women's soccer team to a 5-0 Northeast-10 Conference victory over visiting Southern New Hampshire this afternoon at Albany Academies East Campus.

In the process, 13th year head coach Laurie Darling Gutheil picked up the 150th victory of her career. Darling Gutheil stands 21st in wins among active NCAA Division II mentors and owns the second highest winning percentage in NE-10 history at this juncture (.741).

The 18th-ranked Golden Knights (4-1/2-0 NE-10) wasted no time reeling off their fourth straight win as freshman forward Gianna D'Errico struck 1:20 into the contest off a pass from senior forward Kailey Egbert.

Both squads took turns possessing the ball for the next 20 minutes until Saint Rose sophomore fullback Coco Ebersole lofted a ball over the Penmen defense that Farrell collected and beat Southern New Hampshire senior keeper Stef Young. Farrell added her second tally just four minutes later, this time unassisted after Young had deflected the initial shot.

The Golden Knights added another marker that made it 4-0 at intermission on a restart from the right side. The ball was served towards the far post where junior fullback Alex Sobchak settled and found sophomore midfielder Jordan Bowers to her left who buried the shot from eight-yards out.

The final tally of the match came on a failed clear attempt when Young tried to make a clearing pass that was taken away by Saint Rose sophomore midfielder Kristen Bidosky. Bidosky took one dribble and finished the one-on-one opportunity for her first strike of 2008.

Junior keeper Shannon Murphy and sophomore keeper Jillian Lyons each played one half between the posts for the Golden Knights. Murphy made two stops in the first half, while Lyons came on to make four saves in the second stanza. Young wound up turning aside five shots for the Penmen (1-1-1/1-1-0 NE-10).

Saint will play host to fourth-ranked Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday. Kick off is set for 4:07 pm and will be broadcast on Time Warner Sports on Channel 3 in the Albany market. Southern New Hampshire also returns to action Wednesday when its hosts the University of New Haven at 7:00 pm in Manchester, NH.
