UTICA, N.Y.- The men's and women's track & field teams traveled to Utica College on Saturday to compete in the 20-team Blue & Orange Invitational. The Saint Rose men finished fifth with 41 points, while the Golden Knights women registered 14 points to finish 11th.
Jalen George and
Reese Casinelli were the top finishers for the men, as the pair both claimed second place finishes in their respective events. George logged a distance of 14.77 meters in the weight throw, which ranks second all-time in school history. Casinelli had a strong finish with a time of 50.44 seconds in the 400-meter.Â
Matai Hazel had two top-eight results on the day, as he placed third in the 200m with a career-best mark of 22.92 and fourth in the 60m in 7.17.
Trevon Walker also took third in the long jump in 6.20m
Saint Rose received two sixth place finishes for
Keenan Wood, as he measured 5.93m in the long jump and 12.43m in the triple jump.Â
The women were paced with two top-eight finishes from
Zoe Harris. She finished with season-best times of 27.27 and 1:03.63, respectively, in the 200m and 400m. Other highlights for the women included
Emma Crahan who tossed a career-long mark of 10.08m to finish in sixth place in the shot put.
Both
Gisella King and
Sara Fitzgerald added sixth place efforts, as King cleared 28.34m in the high jump and Fitzgerald crossed the line in 29.08 in the 400m.
Both the men and women will travel back to Utica next Saturday to compete in the annual Pioneer Fast Trax Invitational.
