UTICA, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose indoor track and field teams traveled to compete in the Utica Winter Classic today inside the Hutton Sports & Recreation Center at Utica College. The men finished in 10th place overall, while the women claimed 12th in the team standings.
The men were paced by top-finishers
Reese Casinelli and
Trevon Walker, who each earned a second-place result on the day. Casinelli crossed the finish line with a Saint Rose program record of 1:06.63 in the 500-meter, while Walker posted the fifth-best mark in school history in the men's long jump (6.42 meters).
Three Golden Knights recorded points in the 60m dash, as
Matai Hazel (7.11 seconds),
Shemar Delphin (7.19), and
Dionis Best (7.48) respectively finished fourth, fifth, and eighth in the sprint. Hazel (23.03) and Delphin (23.33) would also score fifth and seventh place-finish in the 200m.
Jalen George logged the fourth-longest weight throw mark in program history with a toss 14.10 meters.
Gisella King keyed Saint Rose with a third-place effort in the women's long jump (4.96m) as well as seventh-place finish the 500m (1:26.83).
Zoe Harris scored a pair top-eight finishes as well today, she finished in the fifth for the 60m (8.34) and sixth in the 200m (27.89).
The Golden Knights return to action next Friday when they travel the Ocean Breeze Athletic Facility in Staten Island for the NYC Gotham Cup Invitational.
