GOLDEN KNIGHTS FAVORED TO SUCCESSFULLY DEFEND THEIR 2021 NE10 CHAMPIONSHIP

NE10 Preseason Poll
MANSFIELD, Mass. – The College of Saint Rose is favored to successfully defend its 2021 Northeast-10 Conference Championship according to the preseason poll that was voted upon by the league's 13 head coaches.

The Golden Knights captured 142 points, nine more than second place Southern New Hampshire, on the strength of 10 first-place nods. Franklin Pierce gathered 108 points for third, while Adelphi edged Bentley by a point for fourth.

Saint Rose (18-2-4) had another historical run a year ago. The Golden Knights won their record ninth NE10 championship and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the 16th time within a 19-year span.

Overall, Saint Rose outscored its 24 opponents 59-14 and surrendered a mere eight, second half goals all year. The Golden Knights finished 12th in the country with a 0.55 team goals-against-average and 25th in scoring offense behind 2.46 goals per game. They strung together the nation's 13th best winning percentage (.833).

Saints Rose brings back 27 players, including eight starters, from the 2021 squad that made the program's eighth NCAA Division II Championship semifinal appearance (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2019, and 2021) where the Golden Knights defeated Dallas Baptist 2-1 to advance to their second championship final. They fell 3-2 in double overtime to top-ranked Grand Valley State in the national championship tilt.

Saint Rose is scheduled to kick off its 2022 campaign on Saturday, August 27 at Daemen. The home opener is set for the following Saturday, September 3, when Jefferson visits Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex, while NE10 action gets rolling on Saturday, September 10 versus Franklin Pierce.
