Morgan Burchhardt then ran onto the ball just outside the box, dribbled and calmly slipped her shot into the lower right corner to make it 3-2 at the 75:00 mark. However, the Lakers staved off several Saint Rose forays into the offensive third throughout the final 15 minutes to punch a ticket to their sixth title match.

Marika Laurendeau was at her best when it mattered most by recording five of her season-high 10 saves in the last 10 minutes to secure the victory.
Head Coach Laurie Darling Gutheil on Thursday's victory: "We knew that they were going to be athletic. We knew that the game by design was going to be very direct. We believed in our ability to prepare our players to defend collectively and to also have our players ready for their one v one matchups in a manner that we could persevere. We also believed that we could get in behind them because we have some very talented offensive players."
Golden Knights in the NCAA Tournament: This year marks the 16th time in 19 years (excluding 2020) that the Golden Knights have been afforded the opportunity to contend for the NCAA Division II National Championship…Saint Rose is now 31-12-6 all-time in NCAA Tournament contests…The Golden Knights have made eight semifinal appearances (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2019, and 2021) within the past 14 years and will be making their second national championship final showing on Saturday…Saint Rose of course captured the 2011 National Championship.

Staff of the Year: The Saint Rose women's soccer coaching staff has been honored by the United Soccer Coaches as its NCAA Division II East Region Staff of the Year. This marks the second consecutive season the Golden Knights staff has been so honored by fellow coaches from throughout the East Region. The Golden Knights staff will be recognized at the College Coaches Awards Ceremony on Thursday, January 20, 2022 during the United Soccer Coaches Convention. In addition, the staff has been placed on the ballot for National Staff of the Year consideration.
Scouting #1 Grand Valley State (23-1-2): The top-ranked Lakers have won six national titles, four in the past seven years, and advanced behind Thursday's 3-0 semifinal victory versus Lenoir-Rhyne…They have reached the National Championship game for the third season in a row and 11th time in program history…GVSU is playing on the final possible day for the fourth straight season; with National Championship Game appearances in 2018, 2019 and 2021 plus a GLIAC Tournament championship in the 2021 spring after COVID-19 canceled the NCAA Championship season…The Lakers rank sixth in the nation in scoring offense and lead the country in total goals, assists and points while ranking second in points per game…Four Lakers are among the top-20 nationally in assists; including sophomore forward Kennedy Bearden who is 10th with 11 helpers on the year...Junior forward Greta DeLoach stands third in the country with 20 goals...The Lakers have recorded 18 shutouts this season, including four in a row...Freshman keeper Kendall Robertson ranks second in the nation with a 0.62 GAA...Junior back Abby Willerer was recently named an All-American... Head coach Jim Conlon is in his first season.
Diversity: The Saint Rose roster features student-athletes from six states and Canada, in addition to Germany, Finland, England, and Brazil.
All-America Honors: Laurendeau has been named a College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-American® for the second time in her career. She has also been tabbed an All-American for the second time. Sophomore back

Northeast-10 Conference Elite 24: Saint Rose junior midfielder
Carolyn Brussel was recently bestowed with the Elite 24 Award. The Northeast-10 Conference's Elite 24 Award honors the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site of each of the NE10's 24 Championships. Brussel has earned a 4.00 cumulative grade-point-average while majoring in Childhood and Special Education with a Mathematics concentration.
All-Conference Honors: Saint Rose is represented by seven student-athletes who were bestowed with 11 total honors on the 2021 NE10 All-League Teams, which were selected by the conference's 14 head coaches. Laurendeau was named the Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight competitive season, while Klammer garnered Rookie of the Year accolades. Lundy and Rein joined them on the first team. Jada Brown earned second-team honors, while Britt collected a third-team nod. Klammer and Brown were also named to the All-Rookie Team.
All-Region Accolades: Saint Rose is represented by five student-athletes, including a region-high three first-team honorees, on the D2CCA All-East squads. Laurendeau garnered first team accolades for the second straight season. She is joined on the first team by Rein and Klammer. Lundy and Mueller both earned second team nods. The teams were voted on by the Sports Information Directors of the East Region.
