TROY, N.Y. – Sophomore
Anthony Dawson won the 400m run at this afternoon's Capital District Classic, hosted by RPI, with a time of 49.57. The time was good for fifth in The College of Saint Rose outdoor track and field record book. Sophomore
Devere Knight was fifth in the event with a 51.32 clocking.
Junior
Mason Tallman scored points in all three weight events on the wet and muddy field. He took home third place in the shot (13.63m) and discus (40.19m), and was tenth in the hammer (40.52m). As a team, Saint Rose totaled 26 points at its final meet before the Northeast-10 Conference Championships to place seventh of 12 teams.
On the women's side, sophomore
Valerie Hinds bettered the school record in the hammer throw, placing third in the event with a mark of 46.29m. She was fourth in the discus and shot put. The Golden Knights totaled 84.5 points to place third of 12 teams.
Sophomore
Christine Myers crossed the 1500m finish line fourth with a time of 4:49.46. The personal best was good for fifth in program annals. Sophomore
Shannen Kerin also broke 5:00 in the event with a sixth-place time of 4:54.59. Myers and Kerin, along with junior
Jazmin Velaquez and freshman
Jessica Zych, made up the winning 4x400m relay team. The quartet clocked in at a season-best 4:21.14.
The duo of sophomore
Dera Boone and senior
Amanda Harrington finished second and third on a wet 100m track, while junior
Cara Kelly (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) took home the pole vault event title.
Overall, the Golden Knights registered 30 top-ten finishes in their final prep for NE10s, which will be held Friday and Saturday at Southern Connecticut State University.
