Corey Purcell and
Cullen Spang are among 22 players that have advanced to the New York State Golf Association Men's Amateur Championship, which is set for July 21-23 at Turning Stone in Verona.

Purcell finished tied for 10th place and Spang wound up tied for 16th at the Albany Area Qualifier that was held at The Edison Club on Tuesday, June 16. Purcell carded a two-over-par 74 and Spang walked in the clubhouse with a three-over, 75. Cody Husek, who is expected to try out for the Golden Knights squad this fall, also qualified with a 75. Purcell recorded five birdies, including four on the front nine, while Spang scored a pair.

This past year, Purcell and Spang both earned All-League honors at the
Northeast-10 Conference Championship that took place at Lake Sunapee Country Club in New London, NH. Spang posted a two-day score of 153 (76-77) and Purcell a 154 (77-77) to wind up tied for 16th and 19th respectively among 50 competitors.
