SAINT ROSE SET FOR AIC ON TUESDAY


Last Meeting (4/12/15): Saint Rose took both games from the Yellow Jackets on Sunday, allowing only one run throughout the day. Senior Ashlee Frazier and junior Nicole Wickham each collected wins from the circle. Wickham also nabbed a save, entering in the final inning of game one with a 3-0 lead. AIC picked up one run, but the Golden Knights held them there and collected the victory. Wickham kept momentum going in game two and earned the shutout. Junior Meghan Reynolds and sophomore Carly Wood led from the plate with 2-for-4 and 3-for-7 performances, respectively. Wood nabbed a pair of RBI doubles to register a team-high .714 slugging percentage. Junior Jenna Costa nabbed the lone RBI for AIC, while sophomore Alyssa Camargo and junior Brittany Fusek suffered the losses in the circle.

Saint Rose scout: The Golden Knights went 4-2 last week with sweeps of Mercy and the Yellow Jackets. Wood leads the squad offensively with a .402 average, followed by juniors Taylor Snyder and Zoe DuBois at .351 and .308, respectively. Wickham (7-8) has spent the most time in the circle, throwing 92.0 innings while allowing 104 hits and 49 runs, 35 of them earned, for a 2.66 ERA. Sophomore Renee Vaiano (3-5) sits just behind with a 3.04 ERA in 53.0 solid innings. The duo has combined for 80 total strikeouts.

AIC scout: The Yellow Jackets nabbed two of their four total wins over Franklin Pierce last week. Sophomore Kristen Steels paces the AIC offense with a .372 average, followed by senior Lauren Tosi and sophomore Yami Lopez-Perez at .320 and .263, respectively. Tosi holds a team-high seven RBI, while Lopez-Perez registers six and Steele owns five. On the rubber, sophomore Jillian Bedard (2-7) and Camargo (2-8) have split wins while registering 3.28 and 3.52 ERAs, respectively. Camargo has fanned 52 batters, while Bedard has sat down 30.

Up next: Saint Rose hosts Southern Connecticut State in a three game, Northeast-10 Conference series starting on Friday at 6:00 pm. First game of the series is a designated breast cancer awareness contest, with all proceed benefitting Camp Bravehearts, an ocology camp for women directed in part by Saint Rose head women's basketball coach/senior woman administrator #Karen Haag#. Saturday's double header is also senior day. The Golden Knights will take time in between contests to honor their five seniors for their hard work and dedication to the program over the past four seasons
