SOFTBALL FALLS TWICE TO SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE

ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose softball team came up short against Northeast-10 Conference foe Southern New Hampshire today, with the Penmen sweeping the day behind matching scores of 4-2.

Ciana Phillips reached based in all three of her plate appearances in game one, as she finished 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

A first-inning RBI single by Kelsey Higgins plated Phillips to put Saint Rose ahead 1-0 before SNHU put up a four-spot in the third inning.

Trailing 4-1, Ellen Fuda singled home Abby Behrikis in the bottom of the sixth, however that would be it for Saint Rose offensively in the opener.

Madison Chandler propelled the Golden Knights lineup with a two hit, two walk performance. Chandler hit her first home run of the spring with a solo shot in the third inning that gave the Golden Knights a 2-1 advantage

Trailing by one, the Penmen tied things up with one out in the top of the seventh to force extra innings. Peyton Feldman gave SNHU the lead for good with a two-out, two-run double in the ninth.

The Golden Knights next face Bentley in a Thursday doubleheader in Bentley, with first pitch set for 2:00 pm on Waltham, Mass.
