SOFTBALL CONCLUDES SEASON ON SENIOR DAY AGAINST ASSUMPTION

ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose softball team played its final games in the program's history today with a double header versus the Assumption Greyhounds at Cathy Cummings Haker Field. Assumption won the opening game 4-2 and followed that up with a 3-1 win in game two to sweep the day.

Junior Hannah Breen pitched all seven innings of game one for Saint Rose, striking out five Greyhound batters.

First baseman Madison Chandler went 3-for-4 and scored a run on a Kelsey Higgins sacrifice fly in game one for the Golden Knights. Chandler would also go a perfect 3-for-3 in game two.

Senior Allie Deeter went 2-for-4 in game one and launched a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth for her fourth long ball of the year.

Graduate pitcher Adian Sheeran pitched the first 3.1 innings for Saint Rose in game two, giving up just two runs while striking out two Assumption hitters. Junior Maddie Puppolo came on in relief to pitch the final 3.2 innings, holding the Greyhounds scoreless while striking out three.

Catcher Ellen Fuda and infielder Marin Frazee each added a hit for Saint Rose in the finale. Frazee would also score the lone run in the second game for the Golden Knights.

Saint Rose finishes their final season 19-19 overall and 8-14 in Northeast-10 Conference play.
