ALBANY–Bentley outscored The College of Saint Rose 8-1 in the second quarter to upend the Golden Knights 12-6 in
Northeast-10 Conference action today at
Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. In the process, the Falcons (5-3/5-1 NE-10) ran their win streak to four games.
Senior midfielder
Rich Bamberger scored two goals, while junior attack
Kevin Fleming and senior attack
Brett McAuliffe each had a goal and an assist for the Golden Knights (1-9/1-6 NE-10).
Junior attacks
Evan Helming and
Colin Sorber also scored, while freshman goalkeeper
Joe Shapiro recorded 12 saves. Furthermore, junior defenseman
Jake Files caused three turnovers.
Saint Rose rebounded from an early 1-0 deficit. Bamberger and Sorber scored less than six minutes apart to put the Golden Knights up 2-1 at the end of the first quarter. However, Bentley scored seven unanswered strikes on the way to a comfortable 9-3 halftime lead.
Each team then had one goal in the third and a pair in the fourth.
Eleven different players accounted for the dozen Falcons strikes. Sophomore midfielder Matt Brigham had a pair of goals and set up another, while junior attack Cutler Dimond had a goal and two assists.
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are home Tuesday for a 7:00 pm date with NE-10 foe Pace University. That game may also be viewed live on
