Last Meeting (4/16/13): The College of Saint Rose rallied with three, fourth quarter goals although by then host Le Moyne had put itself in control with a 5-0 lead en route to a 6-3 victory against the Golden Knights. Overall, the Dolphins manufactured a 40-24 shot advantage and won nine of 13 faceoff opportunities. Senior attack
Brett McAuliffe connected for Saint Rose. Also, senior goalie
Nick Longo recorded 15 saves. Senior midfielder Andrew Chadderdon had two goals and an assist while Nate Frechette added a strike and set up another pair to pace the Dolphins.
Scouting Saint Rose: The Golden Knights are coming off of Saturday's 16-5
Northeast-10 Conference setback at Southern New Hampshire. McAuliffe leads the squad in all three major offensive categories with 26 points on 15 goals and 11 assists. Junior attacks
Evan Helming and
Colin Sorber have 15 and 12 goals respectively, while fellow junior attack
Kevin Fleming has 10 assists. Senior midfielder
Rich Bamberger has also found the back of the net 12 times. Freshman goalie
Joe Shapiro is fourth in the NE-10 with 125 saves, while junior defenseman
Jake Files stands second behind 19 caused turnovers.
Scouting Le Moyne: The defending national champion Dolphins are ranked #2 in this week's
USILA National Poll. The lone blemish on their schedule came via a 13-11 home defeat to top-ranked Adelphi back on April 5. Junior goalies Pat Brothers and Ben Romagnoli are 1-2 in the NE-10 with respective 6.39 and 7.25 goals-against-averages. Brothers also stands atop the league with a 62.2 save percentage, while sophomore attack Mike Jenkins paces the NE-10 with 21 assists. He also has 16 goals. Junior attack Kevin Kelly leads seven double-digit point producers with 42 points on 31 goals and 11 assists. Chadderdon was named the NE-10 Player of the Week on Monday after he recorded three goals and four assists during Saturday's 15-6 win at Franklin Pierce.
Upstate Challenge: The third-annual edition of the year-long rivalry
Upstate Challenge series between Saint Rose and Le Moyne stands tied 6.0-6.0. The Golden Knights have scored points in women's soccer, women's volleyball, women's swimming and diving, and men's and women's cross country; and one-half point in both men's and women's basketball. The Dolphins earned points in men's soccer, men's golf and men's swimming and diving, softball, women's tennis, and one-half point in both men's and women's basketball.
