MANCHESTER, NH–Host Southern New Hampshire scored eight unanswered third quarter goals to upend The College of Saint Rose 16-5 in
Northeast-10 Conference action today.
Junior midfielder
Kris Miller scored twice, while junior attack
Kevin Fleming had a goal and an assist to lead the Golden Knights (2-10/2-7 NE-10) offense. Also, senior midfielder
Rich Bamberger and junior attack
Evan Helming had one strike each. Freshman goalie
Joe Shapiro made 13 saves throughout 45:00 minutes, while sophomore
Casey Bergeron turned aside three shots-on-target during the final 15 minutes.
The Penmen (4-6/4-4 NE-10) put themselves in control early. They jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter and were up 7-3 at intermission, before putting the game away in the third.
Junior attack Corey Allen scored five goals and fellow junior attack Jeremy Buckley found the back of the net four times to spearhead the Southern New Hampshire charge.
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are back home this Wednesday, April 16, for a 7:00 pm NE-10 game versus defending national champion and
Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne. Meanwhile, the Penmen are home at 7:00 pm Wednesday as well. They will host conference Bentley.
