The Plot: The College of Saint Rose welcomes Chestnut Hill for its 2014 home opener at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex.

Last Meeting (3/12/13): Saint Rose came back from a 4-1 haltime deficit and tied the game three times after that point only to suff er a 9-8 overtime setback at Chestnut Hill. The Golden Knights manufactured a 35-32 shot advantage although the Griffi ns won 16 of 20 faceoffs. Senior attack Michael Melnychenko tallied the game-winner for the Griffins, his fourth goal of the contest. Junior midfielder Evan Helming and junior attack Kevin Fleming each had two goals and a pair of assists for Saint Rose. Senior goalie Nick Longo came up with nine of his 16 saves following intermission.

Scouting Saint Rose (0-1): Host #8 Merrimack jumped out to a 4-1 halftime lead to upend Saint Rose 11-3 in the 2014 season-opener for both squads on Saturday. Fleming scored two goals and set up another. Freshman goalkeeper Joe Shapiro made eight saves. This is the third year of intercollegiate competition for the Golden Knights under first year head coach Mark Cometti. Saint Rose is a young squad that consists of only three seniors and 20 underclassmen.

Scouting Chestnut Hill (0-2): The Griffins finished 7-6 overall and 4-3 in the East Coast Conference last spring. This season, Chestnut Hill was upended 13-8 in its 2014 season-opener versus Le Moyne, that was played at Drexel, and fell 14-12 to visitng Seton Hill on Saturday. Melnychenko has scored 10 goals, six of which have come on man-up situations. Four others have registered four points each. Senior goalkeeper Joseph Donnelly has logged all 120 minutes in goal thus far, making 18 saves.

Up Next: Both teams return to action this Saturday at 1:00 pm. Saint Rose travels to Rochester for a non-conference tilt at Roberts Wesleyan. Meanwhile, Chestnut Hill welcomes ECC rival NYIT to Lafayette Hill, PA.
