SAINT ROSE UPENDED BY FRANKLIN PIERCE

The Golden Knights were unable to slow the Franklin Pierce attack in a 10-3 setback today.

ALBANY- Franklin Pierce scored the first four goals of the game en route to a 10-3 Northeast-10 Conference victory versus The College of Saint Rose today at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex.
 
Senior attack Brett McAuliffe led the Golden Knights (0-5/0-2 NE-10) with two goals and an assist. Junior attack Evan Helming tallied the other Saint Rose goal.
 
Franklin Pierce (3-1/1-1 NE-10) outshot the Golden Knights 44-18 in the winning effort while also controlling groundballs 41-24. A pair of juniors, attack Kevin Dargin and midfielder Erik Kelly, each netted three goals. Sophomore attack Casey Burnett added a pair.
 
The Ravens opened the first quarter with three goals before Kelly made it 4-0 in the opening minute of the second period. McAuliffe finished a feed from junior attack Kevin Fleming on a man-up situation to make it 4-1, before Kelly struck again, also on a man-up situation, to give Franklin Pierce a 5-1 halftime advantage.

The first four goals of the second half also went in favor of the Ravens as they opened up a 9-1 lead early in the fourth quarter. The Golden Knights scored two of the last three strikes, including another man-up strike for McAuliffe.
 
Looking ahead, Saint Rose is on the road this Wednesday to face conference rival Assumption in Worcester, MA. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Ravens travel to NE-10 foe Adelphi next Saturday for a 4:00 pm start on Long Island.
