ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose threw a scare at #9 Southern Connecticut State before falling 86-80 in a
Northeast-10 Conference encounter on Senior Day this afternoon at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights (13-13/10-10 NE-10) shot 58.3 percent (21-for-36) from the floor in the first stanza to take a 48-37 halftime lead, but were held to 36.4 percent shooting (12-for-33) throughout the final 20 minutes.
Southern Connecticut State, which entered the game averaging an NE-10 best 88.1 points per-game, rediscovered its scoring touch to take a six point, 70-64, lead midway through the second period. However Saint Rose responded with nine unanswered points go back up by three, 73-70, with 7:00 to go.
The Golden Knights still owned a five point, 79-74, cushion with 2:35 remaining, but Southern Connecticut State (23-2/17-2 NE-10) scored 12 of the game's final 13 points to run its win streak to a dozen.
Senior center
Dominykas Milka registered his 19th "double-double" of the year and scored his 1,500th (1,522) career point to move into the top-10 on the College's all-time scoring list. Milka had 23 points, on 7-for-11 shooting, and tied his career-high of 19 rebounds. Sophomore forward
Tyler Sayre finished with 13 points and seven boards, while senior guard
Dan Mundweiler and sophomore forward
Chris Dorgler added 10 points each.
As for the Owls, senior guard Greg Langston tossed in 20 points to lead a balanced attack that featured five players in twin-figures. Junior guards Tylon Smith and Luke Houston, and freshman guard Michael Mallory scored 14 each, while sophomore forward Stefon Williams wound up with 11.

Up next, the Golden Knights will host an NE-10 Championship first-round game next Friday, February 28. Meanwhile, the Owls are scheduled to play their regular-season finale this Tuesday when they will entertain league rival American International.
