The Plot:The Golden Knights are looking to improve to 10-2 at home, while the Owls are aiming to win their 12th straight.
Last Time Out: The College of Saint Rose opened up a double-digit advantage in the opening seven minutes and never looked back on the way to Wednesday's 81-66 victory against visiting Adelphi. Senior center Dominykas Milka recorded his 40th career "double-double" to pace the Golden Knights. Milka scored 19 points, on 7-for-11 shooting from the floor, and hauled in 15 boards to go along with five assists and three blocks. Sophomore forward Tyler Sayre finished with 17 points while senior guard Kareem Thomas was in twin figures for the seventh time in the last 10 games with 16 points. Also, freshman guard Mical-Ryan Boyd added 10 points in 15 minutes of reserve duty. As for Adelphi, junior forward Duane Morgan scored a game-high 27 points.
Last Meeting: Host Southern Connecticut State snapped a 26-26 halftime deadlock with a 13-0 second half run to upend Saint Rose 76-65 back on December 4. Milka recorded his seventh "double-double" of the season behind 17 points and 14 rebounds. Sayre also posted a "double-double" with 19 points and 10 boards while sophomore forward Chris Dorgler came off the bench to add 10 points. Southern Connecticut State enjoyed a 20-point performance from senior guard Greg Langston. Junior guard Tylon Smith tossed in 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while sophomore guard Deshawn Murphy knocked down five, 3-pointers for all 15 of his points.
Senior Day: Saint Rose will honor its six seniors who will be playing their final regular-season game today. Dan Mundweiler, Eric Sinko, Jin Hong, and James Wilson, in addition to Thomas and Milka, will be recognized in a brief pregame ceremony.
The Series | Saint Rose 20-11: Saint Rose owns a 20-11 lead in the series that dates back to the 1993 ECAC Championship Tournament. However, the Owls have won each of the last five meetings.
Scouting Saint Rose | 13-12 | 10-9 NE-10: The Golden Knights come into tonight aiming to improve to 10-2 at home…Thirteen of their 25 contests have been decided by five or fewer points…They are 6-7 in those encounters….Milka is now only one of five players in Saint Rose annals to record more than 1,000 points (1,499) and 900 rebounds (925)…He is furthermore second among the nation's active leaders with 40 career "double-doubles" while his 925 boards place him third within that demographic…He needs just five points to move into the College's top-10 all-time scoring list…He is also just one shy of his 1,500th career point…Milka currently stands fifth in the country with a league-leading 12.0 rebounding average…He is also third among the NE-10 scoring leaders with 20.3 points per-game, while Sayre stands fifth at 18.6 ppg…Sayre has been in double-figures scoring in all but five games this season…Thomas has been in twin-figures in seven of the last 10 outings to raise his scoring average by a point to 10.4 ppg…The Golden Knights 12 losses have come against opponents that own a 170-98 (.634) collective record entering this afternoon.
Scouting Southern Connecticut State | 22-2 | 16-2 NE-10: Southern Connecticut State won its 11th straight behind Wednesday's 94-69 victory against visiting Pace...The Owls are ranked #9 in the latest NABC Coaches Top-25 NCAA Division II Poll...Southern Connecticut State leads the league in scoring (88.1), field goals made (32.3), field goals attempted (69.7), and rebounding (43.2)...Langston is second in the NE-10 in scoring while Smith is fourth...Smith is also fourth in assists.
Up Next: The Golden Knights will most likely host an NE-10 Championship first-round game next Friday, February 28. Meanwhile, the Owls are scheduled to play their regular-season finale this Tuesday, February 25, when they will entertain league rival American International.
