Series: Saint Rose leads 10-8-1 | First Meeting: 1989

Last Time Out: The College of Saint Rose upended visiting Pace University 2-0 in Tuesday's quarterfinal round. The Golden Knights struck twice 12 minutes apart early in the first half that proved to be enough to defeat a Setters squad that had won four of their previous five matches. Senior forward Carmelina Puopolo scored her league-leading 17th goal of the year with 10:15 gone by for what held up as the game-winner. Freshman midfielder Roxana Hernandez then struck with her first collegiate tally with 21:44 elapsed.

Last Meeting (9/23/14): Saint Rose and visiting Adelphi played to a 0-0 (2OT) draw that at the time featured two of the nation's top-10 teams. The game was also a rematch of last year's Northeast-10 Conference Championship Final that the Golden Knights won 2-0. The contest was fairly evenly played although Saint Rose dictated the pace throughout the final 20 minutes of regulation. Both squads also had superlative opportunities to score in overtime. The Golden Knights manufactured a 15-10 shot advantage, including a 12-7 differential after halftime, and owned a 7-3 edge in corner kicks. Sophomore keeper Ashley Homer recorded four saves for Saint Rose, while senior Sam Whitney, the 2013 and 2014 NE-10 Goalkeeper of the Year, made six of her eight stops following intermission for the Panthers. The Golden Knights almost came away with their second overtime victory of the season in the waning moments when junior back Silvana Giovannone deflected a volley off the crossbar with five seconds showing on the clock.

Scouting Saint Rose (16-1-2): The second-seed Golden Knights are ranked #7 in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire National Poll and are aiming to make their seventh finals appearance within the past eight years. Saint Rose has now won 15 games in each of the past nine seasons. The Golden Knights lead the NE-10 with 48 goals and a 0.40 team goals-against-average. They also pace the conference with 159 corner kicks, 40 more than any other team, and have shutout 12 of their 19 opponents. Sixteen players have at least one goal including Puopolo who stands third nationally with 17 goals and fourth with 41 points. Seven of her strikes have been game-winners. Freshman forward Morgan Burchhardt has seven goals and is in a four-way tie for the league lead with eight assists. Junior midfielder Jennifer Busk is also in that mix. Homer has logged all of the squad's 1,785 minutes between the posts. She is second among the conference leaders with a 0.852 save percentage.

Scouting Adelphi (13-4-1):
The third-seed Panthers come into today having won seven of their last eight matches, including six straight. Like Saint Rose, they have surrendered a league low eight goals and have registered 12 shutouts. Whitney has played all but 70 minutes between the posts. She is just ahead of Homer with a 0.857 save percentage. Adelphi also features a balanced attack with 16 players having scored at least one goal. Freshman forward Jeanine Nunez and sophomore forward Laura Gomez lead the scoring parade with five goals apiece.

Up Next: The winner of today's match will meet either top-seed Assumption or fifth-seed Franklin Pierce in Sunday's championship final. That contest will take place at the highest remaining seed. Kickoff is set for 1:00 pm.
