Series: Saint Rose leads 12-7-1 | First Meeting: 1997

Last Time Out: The College of Saint Rose scored three times in the second period Saturday to snap a 1-1 halftime tie on the way to a 4-1 win against visiting Northeast-10 Conference rival Merrimack. Four different players scored for the fifth-ranked Golden Knights. Junior midfielders Michaela Phillips and Silvana Giovannone; and senior forwards Carmelina Puopolo and Meeghan Arno accounted for the four strikes. Senior back Jourdan Thompson assisted on Philips' goal, while sophomore keeper Ashley Homer made all three of her saves in the second half to keep the Warriors scoreless throughout the final 45 minutes. The match was played fairly evenly during the first stanza, but Saint Rose controlled the pace in the second half that led to a 12-5 shot advantage throughout that stretch.

Last Meeting (10/22/13): The Golden Knights and Owls played to a 0-0 (2OT) draw in New Haven. However, Saint Rose manufactured a 26-13 edge in shots, including an 18-4 differential after halftime, and delivered a staggering 16 threats-on-target as opposed to only three for Southern Connecticut State. The Golden Knights also generated 12 corners, while only yielding one. Jessica Gerski recorded two saves and Laura Taylor delivered a team-high three shots-on-goal for Saint Rose. Meanwhile, keeper Camille Fantini came up with 11 saves for the Owls.

Scouting Saint Rose (12-1-1/8-1-1 NE-10): The Golden Knights were ranked #5 in last week's NSCAA/Continental Tire National Poll after maintaining the top spot throughout the previous four weeks. This week's poll is scheduled to be released this afternoon. The Golden Knights are sixth in the nation with an NE-10 best 0.346 goals-against-average. They are also 13th in the country with a league-leading 99 points. Puopolo stands 13th nationally with 13 goals, which is also the NE-10 standard. Freshman forward Morgan Burchhardt is eighth among the conference's point producers with 15 on five goals and a like number of assists. Junior forward Jennifer Busk is second in the conference with six helpers. Furthermore, Homer is atop the league with a 0.35 GAA and a 0.884 save percentage. She has logged all of the squad's 1301 minutes to date. Thompson was named the NE-10 Defensive Player of the Week yesterday. It is the eighth time throughout her career that she has been so honored. Former All-America back Kylee Litchfield ('06) was inducted into the College's Athletics Hall of Fame Saturday evening.

Scouting Southern Connecticut State (9-3-1/8-2-1 NE-10): The Owls come into today on a nine match unbeaten streak. They have gone 8-0-1 during that span, with a 0-0 (2OT) draw at New Haven 14 days ago. Sophomore forward Caroline Staudle leads the attack with five goals on the year. Freshman midfielder Victoria Conde and senior midfielder Bryana Poulin each have four assists, while sophomore keeper Erica Ridella owns a 0.84 GAA on the strength of five shutouts. She has played all but 11 of the squad's 1193 minutes.

Up Next: Both teams have conference road dates later this week. The Golden Knights have a 12:30 pm meeting Saturday at Stonehill in Easton, MA; while the Owls have a 3:30 pm date Friday at Bentley in Waltham, MA.
