Box Score

ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose threw a scare at Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi before the Panthers pulled away to take home an 11-5 victory tonight at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. The Panthers (7-0/5-0 NE-10), ranked #2 in this week's USILA National Poll, were thus able to keep their unblemished record intact.

Adelphi manufactured a 38-29 shot advantage throughout the unseasonably cold evening although the Panthers were only up a goal on two occasions throughout a 12 minute span that intertwined the second and third quarters.

Sophomore attack Kevin Fleming scored three goals while junior attack Brett McAuliffe and sophomore midfielder Kris Miller each had a goal and an assist for the Golden Knights (2-7/2-3 NE-10). Junior goalie Nick Longo made 13 saves, while sophomore midfielder Evan Helming set up a strike as well.

Freshman attack Salvatore Tuttle, junior attack Ikerson Hopper, and senior attack Vinny Coiro all scored twice to lead Adelphi, which had allowed a mere 35 goals throughout its six games prior to this evening.

The Panthers broke through with 12:11 left in the opening period and then scored twice within a seven second span three minutes later to go up 3-0. However, McAuliffe finished a Miller feed during a man-up opportunity in the opening minute of the second quarter and then Fleming found the back of the net with 5:48 showing on the clock.

Adelphi countered with another quick two strikes, this time 17 seconds apart, to take a 5-2 halftime lead before Fleming and Miller registered a pair of unanswered goals to make it a 5-4 affair with 9:12 left in the third. However, the Panthers then engineered five straight tallies to remove just about any chance of an upset.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are scheduled to travel to Waltham, MA on Saturday to face host Bentley for a 7:00 pm league matchup . The Panthers also play Saturday when they will host conference rival #5 Le Moyne at 4:00 pm in Garden City, NY.
