ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose built a 6-1 lead in the first half to help control a 10-5 victory versus visiting
Northeast-10 Conference rival Assumption earlier this afternoon at
Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex.
Eight different players recorded a point for Saint Rose (4-10/4-6 NE-10) including junior attack
Brett McAuliffe who recorded a hat trick and sophomore midfielder
Kris Miller who had four assists. Sophomore midfielder
Evan Helming added four points with two goals and two helpers. Junior goalie
Nick Longo needed to make just five saves to preserve the victory.
Sophomore attack Garret Smith led the Greyhounds (3-9/3-7 NE-10) with three goals while junior midfielder Ian Mack added two assists. Sophomore defender Dillon Riviezzo contributed three caused turnovers.
Helming scored the first two goals of the game to afford the Golden Knights an early 2-0 lead in the first period. Four unanswered goals in the second quarter, including two from McAuliffe, allowed Saint Rose to enter halftime up 6-1.
The two teams played even in the second half as Assumption manufactured two man-up goals while four individuals scored a goal for Saint Rose to answer the Greyhounds response.
The Golden Knights helped themselves by forcing 28 Assumption turnovers and manufacturing a 40-22 shot advantage.
Both teams are on the road for 1:00 pm starts next Saturday, April 27 to conclude the regular season. Saint Rose travels to Manchester, NH to face Saint Anselm while Assumption visits Merrimack in North Andover, MA.
