The Plot: The College of Saint Rose welcomes Assumption to
Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex for a key
Northeast-10 Conference matchup scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm today. It is also "Take A Kid To The Game Day". The College's Social Committee is also sponsoring an event throughout the afternoon.
Last Meeting (3/14/12): Saint Rose outscored host Assumption 4-2 throughout the second half en route to a 9-7 victory. Senior attack Rich Bamberger scored four goals, while junior attack Brett McAuliffe registered a pair of strikes to go along with two assists. Furthermore, junior goalie Nick Longo recorded 10 of his 14 saves during the final 30 minutes. For Assumption, sophomore attack Garret Smith recorded a hat trick and senior midfielder Casey Marren scored twice.
Scouting Saint Rose (3-10/3-6 NE-10): Saint Rose rallied with three, fourth quarter goals although by then host Le Moyne had put itself in control with a 5-0 lead en route to a 6-3 victory Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore midfielder John Zullo scored twice and McAuliffe connected with his team-leading 26th goal of the year, third most in the NE-10. Longo averages 12.85 saves per-game, starting all 13 games this season. Freshman attack Justin Golec has taken six shots this season that have resulted in five goals and a 83.3 shot percentage.
Scouting Assumption (3-8/3-6 NE-10): In the final home game of the season, Assumption pulled away in the fourth for a 16-11 victory against visiting Pace on Wednesday afternoon. The Hounds ended the home portion of the schedule with three straight victories. Smith and junior midfielder Ian Mack share the team lead with 26 points. Smith is tied for sixth in the league with 24 goals while Mack's 17 assists is also sixth in the NE-10. The Greyhounds average 25.3 shots per-game, most in the conference.
Sports Bingo: Sports Bingo returns today. The first 150 to sign up are eligible. Sports Bingo combines the simplicity of bingo along with the sophistication that no two cards are alike. Thus, competitors are not only able to enjoy the experience, but will learn more about the game of lacrosse itself. There are 24 lacrosse events on each playing card; the center spot is free, that each competitor must mark off as they occur throughout the game. The first competitor to get bingo wins and is thus eligible for prizes.
Up Next: Both teams are on the road for 1:00 pm starts next Saturday, April 27 to conclude the regular season. Saint Rose travels to Manchester, NH to face Saint Anselm while Assumption faces host Merrimack in North Andover, MA.
