#5 MERRIMACK UPENDS SAINT ROSE

ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose was unable to get going in a 19-2 defeat to Northeast-10 Conference foe #5 Merrimack earlier today at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex.
 
Sophomore attack Kevin Fleming assisted on both of the Golden Knights (2-6/2-2 NE-10) goals. Fleming found junior attack Brett McAuliffe for the first with sophomore midfielder Evan Helming finishing off the second strike. Junior goalie Nick Longo made 13 saves in nearly 53 minutes of action.
 
Senior attack Greg MeLaugh helped the Warriors (4-1/3-0 NE-10) extend their winning streak to four game with five goals on the afternoon. Junior attack Paul Jones was credited with three goals and two assists while senior goalie Connor Reagan made eight saves in the first three periods.
 
Merrimack started off the game with two goals in the opening period followed by another three in the first two minutes of the second quarter to go up 5-0.  McAuliffe and Fleming answered the hot start by the Warriors with a man-up goal. However, Merrimack added two more strikes to enter halftime up 7-1.
 
The Warriors more than doubled their lead in the third quarter by scoring eight goals in the period, eight of which were unassisted..
 
After two more goals by Merrimack to open the final stanza, Fleming connected with Helming for another man-up goal for the Golden Knights. The Warriors then found the back of the net with a man-up two more times to close out the game 19-2.
 
The Golden Knights conclude a three-game homestand Wednesday against conference rival Adelphi. First faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.  That game is scheduled to be streamed live on www.gogoldenknights.tv. The Warriors are also in action Wednesday, traveling to Rindge, NH to face Franklin Pierce at 3:00 pm.
