DOBBS FERRY, NY – Host Mercy scored six unanswered first half goals to upend The College of Saint Rose 14-10 this afternoon. The Mavericks (3-0) outshot the Golden Knights (0-2) 19-8 throughout the first half although Saint Rose manufactured an 18-17 differential during the final 30 minutes.

Sophomore attack Kevin Fleming recorded five points on three goals and a pair of assists for Saint Rose. Junior attack Brett McAuliffe had three goals and a helper, while sophomore midfielder Evan Helming finished with two goals.

The Mavericks scored twice on man-up situations during their initial charge and eventually owned a 9-4 lead midway through the third quarter. However, back-to-back goals by Helming and an unassisted strike from sophomore midfielder John Zullo brought the Golden Knights to within three, 10-7, in the opening minute of the fourth.

The two teams then traded a pair of goals, before Fleming scored unassisted on a man-up situation to make it a 12-10 affair with 4:57 to go. However, two Saint Rose failed clear attempts helped the Mavericks tack on two more strikes to account for the final outcome.

Sophomore midfielder Kris Miller set up three goals, while sophomore defenseman Trey Jackson and Zullo had one goal each to help the Saint Rose cause. Junior goalkeeper Nick Longo came up with nine saves, including three in both the first and fourth quarters.
