#4 SAINT ROSE MEETS NEW HAVEN IN NE-10 SEMIFINAL

The Golden Knights host New Haven in a Northeast-10 Conference Championship semifinal at 4:00 pm today.

The Plot: The College of Saint Rose welcomes New Haven today for a Northeast-10 Conference Championship semifinal match at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. The game may be seen live on www.gogoldenknights.tv.

Last Meeting (10/30/13): Saint Rose came back from an early 1-0 deficit with two first half goals during a 2-1 win versus visiting New Haven. Junior midfielder Meeghan Arno scored the game-winner and also set up junior back Jourdan Thompson with the game-tying goal. Senior keeper Jessica Gerski recorded three saves for the Golden Knights. At the other end, junior Natasha Purchla also turned aside three shots-on-target for the Chargers. Saint Rose engineered a 12-9 shot advantage and a 10-2 corner kick differential, but had to play from behind after senior forward Monica Yanez put the Chargers up with 14:07 elapsed.

Scouting #4 Saint Rose (17-0-2):  The Golden Knights are playing in their 12th consecutive NE-10 semifinal. Saint Rose advanced with Tuesday's 1-0 win versus Franklin Pierce, the team's 16th shutout of the season. Arno struck the lone tally with her second goal of the season. Junior midfielder Emily Benjamin assisted on the play. Senior midfielder Sydney Bond is sixth in the conference with 25 points behind 10 goals, fifth most in the league, and five assists. Gerski leads the conference in goals-against-average (0.18), save percentage (.917) and wins (17). The Golden Knights were represented by 10 individuals on the league's All-Conference list. Bond and Thompson earned first-team honors while Gerski, sophomore forward Kristin Carr, senior midfielder Laura Taylor and junior back La'Quilla Upton were named to the second-team. Sophomore midfielder Michaela Phillips and sophomore back Nicole Shively garnered third-team accolades, and freshmen forwards Sammy Blizzard and Emily Meeks were named to the All-Rookie team.

Scouting New Haven (11-4-3): The Chargers advanced to the NE-10 semifinal round with Tuesday's 5-1 win at Merrimack. Junior midfielder Courtney Marra and junior forward Amber Simms accounted for two strikes while sophomore forward Marisa Garcia scored the opening tally. All three players also added an assist while Yanez had a pair. Simms ranks second in the conference with 33 points via 13 goals and seven helpers. Yanez is third with 29 points behind 12 goals and five assists. Tuesday's victory marked the program's first ever NE-10 Championship win. Yanez and Simms were named All-Confernce first-team selections. Senior midfielder Nicole Pacapelli represented the Chargers on the second-team while Garcia and senior back Amanda Hathaway garnered third-team accolades.
 
Up Next: The winner of this match will face either American International or Adelphi in the final on Sunday. Saint Rose would host, while the Chargers would have to travel once again. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
