Box Score
ALBANY–The College of Saint Rose opened the scoring less than five minutes in and never looked back en route to a 3-0
Northeast-10 Conference victory versus Pace University at
Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex this evening.
In the process, the Golden Knights extended their season-long shutout streak to eight games and senior
Jessica Gerski made one save in the first half to become the first keeper in school annals to record 50 victories.
Sophomore midfielders
Amanda Vasquez and
Jennifer Busk, and freshman forward
Sammy Blizzard each scored their fourth goals of the year, while junior forward
Meeghan Arno picked up an assist to lead the Saint Rose (8-0-0/5-0-0 NE-10) charge.
The Golden Knights, who are ranked #3 in the
NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Poll for the second consecutive week, were never in any real danger. They manufactured a 28-7 shot advantage, including a 14-3 differential in on-target threats, and produced nine corners while allowing only two.
Vasquez buried what held up as the game-winner with a mere 4:28 elapsed when she connected on a direct kick from 20-yards out on the left side of the area. Blizzard then directed home a cross from Arno off the left flank with less than two minutes remaining until intermission to make it 2-0 Saint Rose.
Busk rounded out the scoring when she lined a shot to the short side from the left flank after Pace sophomore keeper Leslie Robertston could only deflect an initial shot off the foot of junior midfielder
Kyra Meli.
Looking ahead, both teams have league contests on Saturday. The Golden Knights head to Colchester, VT to take on Saint Michael's at 2:00 pm while the Setters (1-7-1/1-4-1 NE-10) travel to Waltham, MA to meet Bentley at 10:00 am.
