HIGHLIGHTS
ALBANY–The College of Saint Rose scored three times in the opening 17 minutes en route to a 4-0 victory against Northeast-10 Conference rival Assumption tonight at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex.

The Golden Knights (12-0-1/8-0-1 NE-10), ranked #4 in this week's NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Poll, used its usual balanced attack with four different student-athletes accounting for the four strikes. Saint Rose controlled the rate of play throughout the opening period although the game was fairly evenly played during the final 45 minutes. The Golden Knights finished with a 14-12 shot advantage and 5-2 edge in corner kicks.

Sophomore midfielder Jennifer Busk had a goal and set up the game-winner while senior midfielders Laura Taylor and Sydney Bond, and junior midfielder Emily Benjamin scored the other three goals.

Freshman keeper Ashley Homer recorded a season-high six saves in the second half, while senior Jessica Gerski turned aside three shots throughout the first stanza for the Golden Knights. Meanwhile, junior Rachel Edgin made five of her seven saves in the second period for the Greyhounds (5-2-4/3-2-4 NE-10).

Taylor struck first for Saint Rose when she collected a feed from Busk at the top of the area, made a touch and fired inside the right low post with only 3:34 elapsed. Bond knocked home a loose ball in traffic in the center of the area with 13:43 gone by and then Busk drove in a corner kick from the left flag three minutes later to make it 3-0 Golden Knights.

Midway through the second half, Benjamin made a nice move on the right side to create space and then dribbled some 40-yards up the flank before depositing her strike high on the short side to close out the scoring.

However, things did not start to well as Saint Rose nearly had to play from behind for the first time all year. Barely a minute after the opening kickoff, Assumption senior forward Andrea Bates gathered a ball with plenty of real estate around her and then ripped a shot from 25-yards out on the right side that rattled the crossbar.

Ultimately, that turned out to be the Greyhounds most dangerous opportunity as the Golden Knights responded soon after to extend their season-long unbeaten streak to 13 matches.

Up next, both teams are in action Saturday for road league matches. Saint Rose travels to North Andover, MA to face Merrimack at 1:00 pm while Assumption heads to Waltham, MA to meet Bentley at 10:30 am.
