Box Score ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose scored three times within the an eight minute span in the early going of the second half that broke open a 2-0 match and sent the Golden Knights to a 6-0
Northeast-10 Conference victory versus Saint Michael's today at
Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex.
Saint Rose (8-0-1/6-0-1 NE-10), the top-ranked team in this week's
NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Top-25 Poll, outshot the Purple Knights (1-7-1/1-5-1 NE-10) 30-6 and generated seven corners, while yielding only a pair.
Much of that offense could be credited to junior forward
Carmelina Puopolo. Puopolo added to her impressive resume in a Saint Rose uniform by finishing with three goals and thus establishing herself as the all-time scoring leader in school annals in only two and one-half seasons. Puopolo now has 115 career points, surpassing
Eliza Whipple (2000-03) who recorded 112 throughout her Hall of Fame career.
Furthermore, junior midfielder
Sydney Bond extended her goal-scoring streak to four matches by converting a penalty kick that proved to be the game-winner with only 10:06 elapsed. Freshman forward
Kristin Carr and sophomore forward
Brittany Barry rounded out the scoring.
Furthermore, freshmen midfielders
Jennifer Busk and
Gianna Smith each collected an assist. Junior
Jessica Gerski and freshman
Kallina Haase registered five saves between the posts for the Golden Knights. Meanwhile, sophomore keeper Aubrey Ouellet and freshman Kaylee Sullivan turned aside 10 shots-on-goal for Saint Michael's.
Looking ahead, both teams have conference matches on tap for Tuesday. The Golden Knights will entertain American International at 5:30 pm, while Saint Michael's will travel to Rindge, NH to take on Franklin Pierce at 7:00 pm.
