QUICK START LEADS #3 SAINT ROSE PAST NE-10 RIVAL FRANKLIN PIERCE

Junior forward Carmelina Puopolo finished with two goals and a pair of asists to help lead Saint Rose past Franklin Pierce tonight.
Box Score ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose scored four times within a 12 minute span in the first half en route to a 5-1 victory at Northeast-10 Conference rival Franklin Pierce tonight. The Golden Knights (6-0-1/4-0-1 NE-10), who are ranked #3 in the most recent NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Top-25 Poll, manufactured a 16-7 shot advantage, including a 9-3 margin in threats-on-target, and generated nine corner kicks while yielding only a pair.

Junior forward Carmelina Puopolo figured in each of the first four goals with two strikes and a pair of helpers, and junior midfielder Sydney Bond finished with two goals and an assist to pace the Saint Rose attack. Sophomore forward Meeghan Arno accounted for the fifth goal, before the Ravens (3-3-1/2-3-1 NE-10) tallied a perfunctory marker in the 90th minute.

Senior keeper Jessica Gerski and sophomore netminder Lauren Minkoff recoded two saves collectively for the Golden Knights while freshman Katie Weldon turned aside four shots for the Ravens.

Bond things going by one-timing home a pass from Puopolo with 17:36 gone by. Puopolo recorded the eventual game-winner when she touched home a feed from freshman forward Kristin Carr and then Bond set up Puopolo just three minutes later to make it 3-0 Saint Rose. Puopolo subsequently returned the favor to Bond to close out the first half barrage with 29:22 elapsed.

In the second period, senior midfielder Marisah Case drilled one off the post that Arno gathered and finished for a 5-0 Golden Knights advantage. Franklin Pierce got on the scoreboard with a mere 45 seconds remaining when graduate midfielder Aya Noguchi sent in a free kick that sophomore forward Caroline Svasta converted.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose is back on the road Wednesday with a 4:00 pm conference date at Pace University in Pleasantville. The Ravens will also be donning their road jerseys Wednesday with a 3:30 pm meeting at NE-10 rival Bentley University in Waltham, MA.
