WORCESTER, MA – The College of Saint Rose won its second straight by outscoring host Assumption 4-2 throughout the second half en route to a 9-7 victory tonight.
Junior attackman
Rich Bamberger scored four goals, while sophomore attackman
Brett McAuliffe registered his third consecutive multi-goal effort with a pair of strikes to go along with two assists for the Golden Knights (2-2). Furthermore, sophomore goalkeeper
Nick Longo recorded 10 of his 14 saves during the final 30 minutes to hold off the Greyhounds (0-3) who outshot Saint Rose by a 34-27 margin and generated a 37-32 groundball differential while winning 13 of 20 faceoffs.

Joe Pompo, and freshman midfielder
Kris Miller accounted for the remaining three Golden Knights strikes. Freshmen midfielders
Louie Buccella,
Ryan McFee, and
Jake Thorp each had one assist.
The contest was tied four times before Bamberger scored off a McAuliffe pass for what held up as the game-winner and afforded the Golden Knights an 8-6 advantage with 6:30 remaining in the third quarter. The Greyhounds cut their deficit in half a minute later when freshman attackman Garrett Smith found the back of the net. However, Miller provided the Golden Knights another two-goal cushion behind an unassisted strike with 5:22 left in the game.
For Assumption, Smith recorded a hat trick and junior midfielder Casey Marren scored twice.
Saint Rose is now scheduled to host its inaugural contest at
Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex next Tuesday, March 20 versus Dominican. Game time is set for 5:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Greyhounds have a 4:00 pm
Northeast-10 Conference match Saturday at American International in Springfield.
