SYRACUSE – The College of Saint Rose faced its first and arguably one of its most daunting tasks of the year today that resulted in a 13-2 loss at sixth-ranked Le Moyne in the inaugural intercollegiate lacrosse match for the Golden Knights.

Freshman attackman Kevin Fleming scored the first goal in program history. Fleming converted a pass from senior midfielder Joe Pompo with a behind the back shot from the right edge of the crease with 11:50 left in the second quarter.

Sophomore attackman Brett McAuliffe accounted for the second Golden Knights (0-1) tally at the 12:57 point of the fourth quarter when he scored off a pass from freshman attackman Evan Helming.

The Dolphins (2-0) meanwhile got three goals apiece from junior attackmen Tyler Prevost and Nate Frechette.

Saint Rose will play its first home contest this Wednesday, February 29 when Dominican College arrives at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex for a 7:00 pm encounter. Meanwhile, Le Moyne is off until Tuesday, March 6 when the Dolphins have a 6:00 pm date at Colorado-Mesa.
