The Plot: The College of Saint Rose welcomes Bentley University for a
Northeast-10 Conference match at
Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex this afternoon.
Last Meeting (10/29/11): The Golden Knights scored nine goals, seven in the second half, on seven assists to pick up a 9-0 road victory in Waltham, MA. Junior foward Carmelina Puopolo notched two goals and an assist. Brittany Godin also added two goals, while junior midfielder Sydney Bond, sophomore forward Meeghan Arno, Kimberly Morton, Aofie Herbert, and Cenayda Guzman all found the back of the net.
Scouting #17 Saint Rose (14-1-2/11-1-2 NE-10): With last Saturday's 2-0 victory at Stonehill, head coach Laurie Darling Gutheil picked up her 250th career win. She is one of only 10 active NCAA Division II coaches to have reached that milestone. Puopolo has recorded three goals and a pair of assists during the last three games to raise her NE-10 leading point total to 45 (16-13-45). Bond currently sits third with 11 goals and is fourth with 24 points (11-2-24). Freshman midfielder Amanda Vasquez is currently tied for first in the NE-10 with five game-winning strikes. Defensively, Saint Rose posted its 10th shutout of the year in Wednesday's 2-0 win at New Haven. Junior keeper Jessica Gerski has five clean-sheet that yielded a conference best 0.32 goals-against-average.
Scouting Bentley (5-8-3/3-8-3 NE-10): The Falcons have lost four contests by one goal this season, the latest being Wednesday's 1-0 setback at Merrimack. Senior midfielder Laure Muise leads Bentley with nine point behind four goals and an assist. She is one of 13 Falcons that have registered a point. Sophomore keeper Christina Hynds has made and NE-10 high 100 saves. Like Gerski, she has five shutouts to her credit.
Up Next: Please note that the NE-10 Tournament will commence this Monday with quarterfinal action, followed by the semifinals on Friday, and the championship match next Sunday at the highest remaining seed. Saint Rose is currently tied for first with American International. However, the Yellow Jackets hold the tiebreaker. Monday's and Friday's games would begin at 4:00 pm with Sunday's set to get underway at 1:00 pm.
