The Plot: The College of Saint Rose welcomes Southern Connecticut State University for a Northeast-10 Conference match at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex this afternoon.  The contest can be watched live on www.gogoldenknights.tv.

Last Meeting (10/26/11): Brittany Godin scored the game-winner off a pass from junior forward Carmelina Puopolo in the 53rd minute to give the Golden Knights a 2-1 victory at Southern Connecticut State. Christina Cuffari scored with less than four minutes expired in the contest to give Saint Rose a 1-0 lead, before junior midfielder Suzane Pires scored the equalizer 26 minutes later.

Scouting #17 Saint Rose (11-1-2/8-1-2 NE-10): The Golden Knights have put together three straight shutouts, giving them eight on the year. Nine different players have figured in the scoring throughout that span. The back line of senior Molly Harpster, sophomore Jourdan Thompson, and freshman Nicole Shively have helped support the efforts of junior keeper Jessica Gerski. Gerski's 0.32 goals-against-average is tops among NE-10 goalies. Offensively, Puopolo's 37 points comprised of 13 goals and 11 assists puts her atop the conference and among the nation's top-10 scorers. Junior midfielder Sydney Bond stands alone in second among the league's leading scorers behind 11 goals and two assists for 24 points. For a unique perspective, Saint Rose is 86-5-7 (.913) in regular-season league play throughout the past seven years.

Scouting Southern Connecticut State (7-3-3/5-3-3 NE-10): The Owls have played five overtime contests, posting a 1-1-3 record in those games as they have only suffered two losses in regulation. They are furthermore unbeaten in six of their last seven matches. Freshman keeper Elizabeth Nickerson has played well between the posts. She is second to Gerski among the league leaders with a 0.47 GAA. Pires' seven points, on two goals and three assists, account for the team-high. Junior back Sarah Brochu and senior back Lisamarie Tarchini also have two goals apiece.

Up Next: Saint Rose begins the first of two straight road games on Saturday at Stonehill. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 pm from Easton, MA. Southern Connecticut State is also away from home this Saturday for its final road game of the regular season. The Owls have a 12:00 pm date at Bentley in Waltham, MA.
