Box Score SYRACUSE – The College of Saint Rose exploded for six goals throughout the second half to upend host Le Moyne 8-0 in a Northeast-10 Conference game today. In the process, the ninth-ranked Golden Knights (5-0-1/3-0-1 NE-10) took the opening contest of the year-long
Upstate Challenge that was recently announced by both schools.
Saint Rose controlled play throughout. The Golden Knights manufactured a 27-2 edge in shots, including a 13-1 advantage in on-target threats; and earned eight corner kicks, while yielding only a pair. Furthermore, nine different players registered at least one point.

Sydney Bond had two goals apiece, while senior midfielder
Brittany Godin had a goal and an assist. Also, freshman midfielder/forward
Meeghan Arno tallied her first career marker in the 88th minute.

Christina Cuffari accounted for the final Saint Rose goal.

Jessica Gerski each played a half between the posts. They needed to record only one save collectively. Meanwhile, senior Felicia Tynan came up with five saves for Le Moyne (2-3-0/1-3-0 NE-10).
Puopolo put Saint Rose in control at the outset by driving a strike into the lower-right corner just two minutes in. Godin made it 2-0 a mere 12 minutes later and Puopolo repeated her first half deed by scoring two minutes into the second stanza to make it a 3-0 affair. Bond then blew it open with a pair of goals just five minutes apart midway through the second half.
Up next, the Golden Knights return home Saturday to host conference rival Assumption. Kickoff is set for 1:00 pm at Sullivan Field within the Plumeri Sports Complex. Le Moyne is also back in action Saturday with an 11:00 am NE-10 date at Saint Anselm in Manchester, NH.
