#1 SAINT ROSE SCORES THREE TIMES IN SECOND HALF TO UPEND SOUTHERN N.H.

Sophomore midfielder Laura Taylor (w/ball) scored her first collegiate goal today to help the Golden Knights upend Southern N.H.
Box Score MANCHESTER, NH –The College of Saint Rose shook off Friday's draw with UMass Lowell by scoring three times throughout a 21:00 minute span in the early portion of the second half en route to a 3-1 victory at Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern New Hampshire today. The top-ranked Golden Knights (4-0-1/2-0-1 NE-10) subsequently ran their conference regular-season unbeaten streak to 41 contests dating back to 2008.

Freshman forward Brittany Barry scored twice including her league-leading eighth strike of the year, while sophomore midfielder Laura Taylor registered her first collegiate marker that put Saint Rose up 3-0 with 75:03 elapsed. Meanwhile, senior midfielder Danielle Quinlan blemished the clean sheet for Saint Rose sophomore keeper Jessica Gerski with a strike in the 90th minute.

Gerski came up with a season-high nine saves, including six before intermission, for Saint Rose; while junior Maggie Weldon turned aside six shots-on-goal for the Penmen (2-2-0/1-2-0 NE-10).

Collectively, Southern New Hampshire engineered 12 shots-on-target as opposed to 10 for the Golden Knights, although Saint Rose had a 7-6 edge in corner kicks.

Barry made it 1-0 at the 54:30 mark when she finished off a feed from sophomore forward Carmelina Puopolo inside the area. Eight minutes later, she collected a corner kick and fired a shot off a Penmen defender that landed inside the lower left post for what turned out to be the game-winner.

Taylor then knocked home a rebound at the right post off a shot by senior midfielder Brittany Godin, before Quinlan put Southern New Hampshire on the board by heading home a corner kick off the foot of senior midfielder Emily Donahue.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights make the trek west on the New York Thruway to visit upstate and conference rival Le Moyne College on Wednesday. It will mark the first contest of the annual Upstate Challenge that was recently announced by both schools. Kick-off is set for 4:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Penmen have a 6:00 pm non-league date at 17th ranked Bridgeport on Wednesday as well.
