WALTHAM, MA – The College of Saint Rose scored twice in the opening 15 minutes and then broke open a 2-0 game at halftime with seven more strikes in the second period en route to a 9-0
Northeast-10 Conference victory at Bentley this afternoon in what marked the regular-season finale for both teams.
The nine goals are the most scored by the 16th ranked Golden Knights (16-1-1/13-1-1 NE-10) against a conference opponent since their NE-10 era began in 2000. It also marked the sixth straight year that they captured at least share of the NE-10 regular-season title.
Eleven different players figured in the tally including sophomore forward
Carmelina Puopolo. Puopolo finished with two goals and an assist including what stood up as her sixth game-winner of the year when she knocked home a rebound with just 10:04 elapsed.
Senior midfielder
Brittany Godin wound up with a pair of goals as well while sophomore midfielder
Sydney Bond, freshman midfielder
Cenayda Guzman, senior midfielders
Aoife Herbert and
Kimberly Morton, and freshman forward
Meeghan Arno added one apiece. Furthermore, senior midfielder
Christina Cuffari collected a pair of assists to run her school career record total to 34.
Between the posts, sophomore
Jessica Gerski and freshman
Lauren Minkoff made a collective two saves to help the Golden Knights secure their 10th clean sheet this autumn. Meanwhile, freshman Christian Hynds had eight saves for the Falcons (6-10-2/5-8-2 NE-10) who entered the match riding a three-match unbeaten stretch.
Up next, top-seed Saint Rose will begin its quest for a fifth straight NE-10 Tournament Championship on Tuesday versus eighth-seed Adelphi. Kickoff is set for 4:00 pm from Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. The game will also be streamed live at
