LANTANA, FL – The College of Saint Rose swept St. Thomas Aquinas(2-5) today snap a six-game skid heading into the final day of its annual spring break trip to Florida. The Golden Knights (4-9) upended the Spartans 8-2 in the opener and then took the finale 6-2.
Saint Rose broke apart the opener with a four-run fifth inning that afforded the Golden Knights a 7-0 lead and then pushed across two runs in each of the fourth, sixth and seventh frames of the finale.
Senior right-hander
Jeremiah St. Louis fanned 11, while freshman second baseman
Michael Carbone and junior outfielder
Ryan Price both had multi-hit performances in the first game. Carbone went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored, while Price finished 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Also, senior first baseman
Paul Partridge tripled and scored a run to help the Golden Knights cause.
In the second game, Saint Rose benefited from another solid pitching performance as senior right-hander
Brendon Malkowski matched St. Louis' effort with 11 strikeouts. Price had another 2-for-4 game with an RBI and senior infielder
Dominick Iaconis stroked a two-run base hit.
The Golden Knights get back on the diamond tomorrow with a 9:15 am game versus Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern Connecticut State in Lantana. Meanwhile, St. Thomas Aquinas has a 7:00 pm date with Merrimack in Lantana as well.
