PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The College of Saint Rose baseball team split a road double header at Northeast-10 Southwest Division foe Pace on Saturday. The Golden Knights defeated the Setters 12-11 in game one of the double header before Pace took game two 9-0.
Chase Tucker started the opening game for the Golden Knights, pitching the first five innings to earn his third win of the year.
Marcus Botelho got Saint Rose out of an eighth-inning jam and closed the door in the ninth for his first save of the season.
Saint Rose jumped out to an early lead in game one on a solo shot from
James Ward in the first inning.
Vince Venditti followed that up with a two-run homerun in the third.
The Golden Knights trailed 7-4 after five innings but
Ethan Farina scored on a balk to start in the top of the sixth, and then capped off the eight-run inning by crushing a grand slam that proved to be the difference.
Left fielder
Mike Benedetto went 3-for-5 in game one. Shortstop
Kenyon Motley provided two hits and scored twice for Saint Rose.
The Golden Knights offense was limited to just two hits in the game two setback. Benedetto also added a game-two base hit and
AJ Fasolino knocked a double. Venditti reach twice on a pair of walks.
These two teams will wrap up their three game series on Sunday at 12:00PM back at Peter X. Finnerty Field in Pleasantville.
