GARDEN CITY, NY – Sophomore midfielder
Amanda Deck found the back of the net off a direct kick in the 54th minute that held up as the game-winner to give The College of Saint Rose a 1-0 non-conference victory at Adelphi University this afternoon. It marked the first tally of Deck's young career.
Saint Rose (2-1), ranked #18 in the latest NSCAA/Adidas Division II poll, pretty much dictated the pace throughout. The Golden Knights outshot the host Panthers (3-1), who had outscored their first three opponents by a 10-1 margin, 21-13 and generated seven corner kicks, while yielding only one.
Junior keeper
Shannon Murphy came up with four saves, including three in the second half to preserve the shutout, while freshman keeper Dorothy Connolly recorded 13 saves for the Panthers.
Saint Rose opens the Northeast-10 Conference portion of its schedule on Tuesday when the Golden Knights visit Southern Connecticut State. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm in New Haven. Meanwhile, Adelphi will host C.W. Post on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
