TOWNSEND, Mass. – The College of Saint Rose opened its 2022-23 campaign with a 12th place finish at the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational that concluded today at the par-70, 6184-yard Northern Spy Golf Club. The Golden Knights had two players finish among the top-50 in the 84 player field.
Jack Manning and
John Del Priore tied for 38th and 47th place respectively to lead Saint Rose. The former recorded five birdies to finish with a two-round total of 154 (+14), while Del Priore wound up three back of his teammate at 157 (+17).
Connor Champoux tied for 63rd with a 164 (+24), while
Zach Gregg and
John Russell wound up 73rd and 77th with respective scores of 169 (+29) and 177 (+37).
Host Franklin Pierce had two players finish in the top-12 to take home the team title by a mere three strokes over second place Assumption. This afternoon, the Ravens cut 19 total strokes off their team score from a day ago to jump three spots up the leaderboard.
Alejandro Gomez of Dominican College finished with a 136 (-4) to capture individual medalist honors by two shots over Pablo Hidalgo of Felician and Michael Sosik of Franklin Pierce.
The average score played to 78.52 encompassing 108 rounds throughout the two days, with Sunday's opening round registering a 79.75 and today's final round playing to a 77.29.
Going forward, Saint Rose is scheduled to take part in the Penmen Invitational next Monday and Tuesday at Beaver Meadow Golf in Concord, N.H. Southern New Hampshire University is hosting the event.
