P.J. ANADIO NAMED HEAD SOFTBALL COACH

ALBANY, N.Y. –  P.J. Anadio has been appointed the head softball coach at The College of Saint Rose.

A decorated mentor, Anadio arrives from Herkimer College where he built the Generals into a national power while establishing recruiting connections internationally and throughout the country.

"I am thrilled to celebrate this special moment for Saint Rose softball. We are fortunate to bring to our Golden Knight family an accomplished and decorated head coach with more than a decade of experience guiding young women to success on and off the field. Throughout this process, P.J. emerged as a passionate coach who will transform Saint Rose softball into a powerhouse in the Northeast-10 Conference. P.J. is a tireless worker with a shared vision to recruit, develop, and empower our student-athletes to win championships while achieving success on the field, in the classroom, and in life," said Lori Anctil, Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics.

Anadio also offered his thoughts.

"I would like to thank The College of Saint Rose and Lori Anctil for the exciting opportunity and believing in me. Saint Rose is a wonderful academically and athletically rich institution, and I am proud to be a Golden Knight! I am truly grateful and thankful for Herkimer College for providing me and my family so many opportunities throughout my tenure. I'm leaving behind many great relationships and friendships, but will be certain to take my memories with me. However, it is time to make new memories with an incredible group of young women and set new marks as we set out to make Saint Rose Softball a regional and national contender."

Anadio recently completed his 12th year as the head coach at Herkimer. The Generals added another chapter to their enduring legacy by finishing 33-9-1 overall, capturing the NJCCA Region 3B Championship, and advancing to their 10th consecutive NJCCA World Series. In addition, two players earned All-America honors, six captured All-Region accolades, and five garnered Mountain Valley Conference All-League plaudits.

All in all, the 2022 campaign emulated previous ones with Anadio in the dugout.

He has been named the NJCCA Region III Coach of the Year on three occasions and the Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year eight times. Meanwhile, his entire staff was honored as the 2013 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Staff of the Year.

Anadio recorded a 437-89-1 overall record, including a 156-8 conference mark, and guided the Generals to the 2013 NJCCA National Championship, along with five National Runner-Up finishes. He has furthermore directed 11 NJCCA Regional Championship squads and has produced 30 All-Americans.

Before taking over the softball program, Anadio served as Herkimer's assistant baseball coach since 2007. In addition to coaching baseball, Anadio was an assistant on the men's basketball team under Head Coach Matt Lee for three seasons, helping guide the Generals back to the National Championships in 2010 for the first time in more than 20 years. Anadio was also the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Herkimer in 2015-2016 while maintaining his softball responsibilities.
