SOFTBALL GETS FIRST WIN OF THE SPRING

Golden Knights Defeat #6 West Viriginia Wesleyan, 7-2

CLERMONT, Fla. – The College of Saint Rose softball team defeated #6 West Virginia Wesleyan 7-2 at THE Spring Games on Sunday morning.

Freshman infielder Ryane Brush and senior infielder Taylor Solomon powered the Golden Knights to their first win of the season. Solomon went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Brush homered as part of a 2-for-3 day.

The Golden Knights batted around in their five-run third to open up a 6-0 lead.

Saint Rose fell 9-1 to Ferris State in its second game of the day. The Bulldogs (1-5) capitalized on a six-run fifth to take it. Junior infielder Briana Bowen, freshman outfielder Alissa Folts and senior outfielder Katie Shevlin recorded two hits apiece to lead the Saint Rose offensive effort. Shevlin reached base in all four of her trips to the plate, while junior outfielder Astasia Myler had the lone RBI.

The Golden Knights play next on Tuesday afternoon vs. Concordia at 1:00 pm and Lewis at 3:00 pm.
