SYRACUSE, NY–Senior first baseman
Olivia Reeves notched her fifth home run of the season, but The College of Saint Rose dropped a pair of games, 6-2 and 1-0, to
Northeast-10 Conference and
Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne earlier today.
The Dolphins took the season series from the Golden Knights 3-1, and thus gained one point in the third annual year-long rivalry series between the two schools. Nonetheless, Saint Rose still leads the 2013-14 version 6.0-5.0.
Reeves' two-run blast came in the sixth inning of game-one and brought the Golden Knights (7-14/3-6 NE-10) to within four runs. Neither team scored again though and thus Le Moyne was able to prevail. Sophomore third baseman Kirsten Trotta went 3-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Le Moyne game-one surge.
The nightcap at Niland Athletic Complex came down to pitching and stout defense. Throughout 4.1 innings, sophomore right-hander
Danielle Dayton yielded just one run, unearned, on four hits while striking out three batters. Le Moyne freshman right-hander Chelsea Claflin made the lone run of the game hold up by shutting out the Golden Knights with a complete-game effort behind two strikeouts.
Saint Rose and Le Moyne both return to NE-10 action tomorrow. The Golden Knights play host to Pace University at
Cathy Cummings Haker Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. First pitch is set for 7:00 pm. Meanwhile, Le Moyne welcomes Adelphi for a 3:00 pm doubleheader.
