EASTON, MA– An RBI single by junior left fielder
Kari Bird in the sixth inning put The College of Saint Rose on the board, but the game-two rally at
Northeast-10 Conference rival Stonehill fell short 4-1. Meanwhile, the Skyhawks scored twice in the first inning of game-one en route to a 5-0 victory.
Bird went 2-for-3 to pace the Golden Knights (7-12/3-5 NE-10) game-two attack. Senior first baseman
Olivia Reeves came around to score on the base hit by Bird after drawing a walk and stealing second base to get into scoring position.
In 6.0 innings of work, sophomore right-hander
Nicole Wickham scattered eight hits and allowed four runs, three of which were earned. She also fanned four Stonehill batters.
Sophomore catcher
Zoe Dubois recorded two singles in the opening game of today's doubleheader. Junior second baseman
Marisa Bird and sophomore pinch-hitter
Taylor Snyder collected one hit each.
Stonehill sophomore pitcher Megan Ruonavaara smacked a two-run blast to center field and kept Saint Rose off the scoreboard to pick up her fourth win of the season.
Looking ahead, both teams are on the road this week for doubleheaders. Stonehill travels to Assumption on Tuesday, while the Golden Knights renew the
Upstate Challenge on Wednesday at Le Moyne.
