WORCESTER, MA–The College of Saint Rose pounded out an 11-10 victory in the finale to gain a split at
Northeast-10 Conference rival Assumption this afternoon. The Greyhounds scored three runs in both the sixth and seven innings to take the opener 8-3.
In the nightcap, the Golden Knights (9-15/5-2 NE-10) pushed across four runs with two down in the seventh and then scored the winning run in the eighth when junior first baseman
Zac Bellinger brought around senior left fielder
Scott Hladik from first with a double to the gap in right-center.
Doubles from junior right fielder
Nick Venier and sophomore designated hitter
Chad Adams, an RBI base hit by Bellinger, and RBI singles from freshman third baseman
Tyler Ungerland and junior second baseman
Ryan Hooker highlighted the seventh that put Saint Rose up 10-7.
The Greyhounds then scored three times in the bottom half, before Bellinger came through an inning later.
Venier, Bellinger and Hooker delivered three hits each to spearhead the Saint Rose 13-hit attack. Junior southpaw
Bryan Carr hurled a scoreless eighth and junior right-hander
Chris Gould worked the ninth en route to his fifth save of the year.
In the opener, Hladik and Ungerland had three hits apiece.
Looking ahead, both squads have 3:30 pm NE-10 Division games on tap for Wednesday. The Golden Knights will host American International, while Assumption will visit Stonehill.
